Welcome to our most recent Calgary roundup report on design, property styling and real estate for the week of February 9. Here we will bring you all the recent goings-on in these industries, bringing you all the Calgary home information you need whether you are dwelling or selling.
INTERIOR DESIGN
We are still enjoying being whimsical, whether it comes to weddings, photography or how we style our homes. Minimalism is not as popular, as we seek to express our tastes and style through more definitive layering of objects and furnishings within our homes. We are no longer wanting to be restricted by boring, plain neutral colours and fewer objects and we are ready to not only use more colour, but we are also using more pattern and textures from floor tiles to cabinet fronts to walls. Plants abound everywhere as is the use of stone and wood as we bring the outdoors in.
As for colour, we are seeing a lot of use of the colours black, gold, dijon mustard, white and tan, with geometric shapes and colour blocking being prominent trends.
HOME STAGING
We here are Homes Beautifully are CSP trained and our Lead Designer Monique Shaw is a fully trained interior designer. Home Stagers can assist you with what to purge (and how to purge it in an environmentally friendly matter), paint selection, optimal furniture placement and help beautify your home with furnishings, art and accessories ahead of the sale. A great home stager understands the correct use of colour, art, and furnishings and make your home stand out, not simply furnish it for the sake of adding furniture!
REAL ESTATE
The latest Calgary Real Estate statistics, from zolo.ca
CANADIAN REAL ESTATE NEWS FOR 2020:
According to Zolo.ca, the highs and lows we have seen in past years are behind us, and more steady but cautious growth is on the horizon. Mortgage rates remain low and we continue to see an increase in first-time buyers. More and more banks are choosing to display their best rates online, with many interested home-buyers either searching for rates or getting pre-approved for mortgages online. Lack of supply is still a problem, so bidding wars can be expected in desireable areas and markets.
